Year 8 Charity Fair 2009

On Friday 24 April 2009, the whole of Year 8 held the annual South Wilts Charity Fair. Representatives from 16 local charities were invited to help the girls to understand the work of their charity and to assist in fund raising over the lunchtime period.

The girls set up their own stalls and displays and raised money with games and raffles, as well as selling home made cakes and crafts. Several teachers were persuaded to be sponged outside! The hall was buzzing with excitement as staff and girls from the rest of the school wandered around the Fair enjoying the activities. In all, over ₤584 was raised and a great deal of fun was had by all. Many of the charity representatives remained in school for lunch afterwards and remarked on how impressed they were with the girls' enthusiasm and determination to make the event such a success.

The charities involved were: Hope and Homes for Children, Trussell Trust, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Wiltshire Blind Association, Wiltshire Global Education Centre, Women's Refuge, The Alabaré Christian Care Centres, Salisbury Arts Centre, Naomi House Children's Hospice, Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal, Homestart South Wiltshire, SWAN Advocacy Network, Salisbury Samaritans, SCOPE, Harnham Water Meadows Trust and Children's Chance.
