Science in School Day

An air of anticipation hung over the Main Hall on Friday 3rd October as the whole of Year 10 gathered for the start of the annual Scientists in School day.

Throughout the day all students had the opportunity to experience the Explorerdome, watch a demonstration about kinetic theory involving lots of liquid nitrogen and to take part in sessions ranging from the use of a model wind tunnel to making muscles move using electricity via local water meadow management, liquid crystals and microscope slides of bacteria.

There were talks about career opportunities using science qualifications as well. Year 10 enjoyed the day-many described the kinetic theory demonstration as 'amazing' and some students would love to have an Explorerdome in school.

We would like to thank all of our visiting speakers for providing such a splendid and stimulating event.
