Over the years, many hundreds of pupils of SWGS have been members of the Salisbury Area Young Musicians (SAYM). This year is SAYM’s 25th and, to celebrate, we are giving a series of concerts at the City Hall on July 12th to 14th. We very much hope to form several alumni groups (nothing too hard!); jazz, wind band and orchestra, and so would appreciate ex-members getting in touch so we can start planning. If you are interested, please email Robert Priestley (firstname.lastname@example.org) and please pass this on to any other old SAYM members you know.
It was a pleasure to welcome so many former students at school on Tuesday 12th July 2012 for our Cream Tea. Stories were shared and memories re-visited as current students led tours of the school and served tea and scones. We even had a very nostalgic rendition of the School Song !
This event forms the start of what we hope will be annual meetings that will grow. Next year we hope to hold a formal dinner in Salisbury in our summer term and will be sending out further details closer to the time.
We published the first of a bi-annual newsletter that is linked to this page. If you would like to send articles regarding your time at South Wilts, or your lives since then, we would be delighted to receive them. We are also are looking for a willing ex-student who might want to run this new venture – collecting and writing articles – and liaising with SWGS to publish and distribute. If you think this is something you would like to help with, please complete the tear off slip.
We call regularly on friends of the school and the local community to help with student events and if you think you might be able to help (or know someone who could) then please indicate. This might be:
